Give your child the competence, confidence and skills of aquatic safety with Infant Swimming Resource's Self-Rescue® program. The safest provider of survival swimming lessons for children 6 months to 6 years of age.

With over 45 years of experience and the highest safety standards in the industry, ISR is able to deliver the best survival swimming instruction in the world today. The result? Over 8 million safe and effective lessons delivered, providing children with a foundation for safety and a lifetime of fun in and around the water.

Your local ISR instructor in the High Point, NC/Triad area is Darlene Haskins.  Darlene has worked with young children her entire life.  She obtained her Early Childhood Education Credential in 2010. In 2014 she was trained and certified as an ISR Instructor. She has worked in pre-schools, head starts, Montessori & ran a large family childcare while her own children were young.

When Darlene wasn't teaching, you could find her at the local swimming pool, where she became a lifeguard when she was 16 and has continued teaching swim lessons throughout her entire life and lifeguard as a hobby. Darlene taught all her children to swim and all 3 have been swim instructors as well. 2 of them became lifeguards and one is also an ISR Instructor!

Darlene is proud to provide ISR in our area! Her husband William is the local pool fence dealer for Life Saver Pool Fence of the Triad.  Darlene and her team also offer CPR classes and are committed to helping you keep your family safe in and around the water!

WATER SAFETY LAYERS

 1. Supervision

The most critical line of defense is adult supervision. No level of aquatic skill can replace active supervision. If your child is ever missing, look in the water first.

2. Fencing

Install a permanent 4-sided fence with self-locking gates. Ensure that the pool fence is at least 3-5 feet from the pool edge.

3. Alarms

Make sure all doors and windows leading to the pool are locked and alarmed.

4. Swimming Lessons with emphasis on floating

A moment's inattention does not have to cost a child his life. ISR's Self-Rescue® training is an added layer of protection, teaching your child water survival skills in a completely safe environment.

5. CPR

If an emergency happens, it is essential parents and families are prepared. Learn to perform CPR on children and adults and remember to update those skills regularly.

Families with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) children need to pay close attention near water.

Drowning is the No. 1 cause of death for autistic kids due to a behavior known as "elopement," according to the National Library of Medicine. In fact, children with  ASD are 160 times more likely to die from drowning than the general pediatric population.

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are also at increased risk of drowning, especially those younger than 15 years of age and those with greater degrees of intellectual disability.
